Predictions are most accurate for the near future (next 6-24 hours). Accuracy naturally decreases for longer forecasts as weather becomes harder to predict.
"Error" means how many megawatts (MW) off our predictions typically are. Lower numbers are better.
We forecast how much renewable (green) energy the Faroe Islands will produce from wind, water (hydro), solar, and biogas. This helps grid operators plan ahead and maximize the use of clean energy.
Renewable energy from wind and water varies with weather conditions. Accurate forecasts help the power company know when to run backup generators and when they can rely on clean energy alone.
For renewable energy prediction, 85-90% accuracy is very good, and 90%+ is excellent. Perfect prediction (100%) is impossible because weather is inherently unpredictable.
We predict: Renewable (green) energy from wind, hydro, solar, and biogas.
We don't predict: Oil/fossil fuel production, which depends on operational decisions rather than weather. For total energy, we recommend using real-time production data combined with our green energy forecasts.
